Three main routes
Direct contact
Person-to-person transfer — a handshake, or touching a surface immediately after someone else.
Indirect (fomite) transmission
Touching a contaminated surface — a door handle, keyboard, or shared equipment — then touching your face. This is the route most workplace hygiene measures target.
Airborne / droplet transmission
Respiratory droplets or fine aerosols released by coughing, sneezing, or even normal breathing and speech in enclosed spaces.
